Update Fatal Crash - Hit & Run on 9th Avenue North & 4th Street North

St. Petersburg Police is actively searching for the driver of a Mercedes SUV that hit and killed a 65-year-old motorcycle driver and left the scene.

The video below shows the SUV includes a slow-motion view and a real-time view.

The SUV is dark grey or black, with significant front right damage.

Fatal Crash -9th Avenue North & 4th Street

September 27th, 2026 @ 1:10 a.m.

A black Suzuki motorcycle operated by a 65 year old man of Pinellas Park, was traveling southbound on 4th Street North.

A dark colored Mercedes SUV was traveling northbound on 4th Street North, made a westbound turn onto 9thAvenue North in front of the motorcycle , and caused the crash.

The Mercedes fled the scene westbound on 9th Avenue North.

The victim was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital St. Petersburg where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
