At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20th, in the St. Petersburg Police Department Media Room, 1301 1st Avenue North, Chief of Police Anthony Holloway and Mayor Ken Welch will present checks for approximately $169,785 asset forfeiture funds to 43 community-based programs that seek to improve neighborhood safety, promote crime prevention, and prevent drug abuse. The media is invited to attend.
The money will go to a wide variety of community programs. The Chief is especially interested in assisting programs promoting positive behavior for children and teens.
Asset forfeiture funds come from the seizure of money/assets involved in criminal activity in the past year. The program is administered by the St. Petersburg Police Department Legal Division.
