Attempted Homicide Arrest

St. Petersburg Police arrested Charles Hinton and Christopher Tonsel for attempted murder in the first degree and robbery with a deadly weapon in the shooting of an 18-year-old man at 731 15th St. S. on Feb. 11th. (booking photos below)

Shortly before 5 p.m. Feb. 11th, the shooting victim and a second man met Hinton and Tonsel in the parking lot at the Citrus Grove Apartments in the 700 block of 15th Street South. The victim was sitting in the front passenger seat of a sedan.

Hinton and Tonsel climbed into the back seat of the car. A short time later, Hinton pulled out a gun and fired, striking the victim in the back of the neck.

Hinton and Tonsel jumped out of the car and ran away. The driver drove one block away to get help at a convenience store in the 900 block on 16th Street South.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition.
