Officer Involved Shooting

The Pinellas Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force is investigating an officer involved shooting near the 1700 block of 40th St. S.

The St. Petersburg officer was not injured, but the suspect is in the hospital.

The media staging area is in a church parking lot 3940 18th Ave. S.

The media on the scene will work through the Pinellas Sheriff's Office PIO.

The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force was created to ensure the investigations conducted into law enforcement use of deadly force are thorough, complete, and objective.

The purpose of this task force is to make sure that officer-involved shootings in Pinellas County are investigated by an independent agency and not by the agency involved in the use of deadly force.
