The St Petersburg Police Department is conducting a traffic investigation at the intersection of 18th Ave., S and 7th St. S after a stolen car crashed with the police vehicle.

18th Ave. S shut down between 5th and 8th Streets. And 7th St. is closed between 16th Ave S and 19th Ave S.

The sergeant was traveling eastbound on 18th Ave., South when the stolen blue Toyota Camry, traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on 7th St. S, ran the stop sign. The two vehicles crashed at the intersection of 18th Ave. S and 7th St. S.

Three people from the Camry were transported, in addition to the sergeant. Early indications are that all of the injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.

Three people have been detained as detectives continue to investigate the crash.
